Strategies for Listening, Learning,
Speaking, and Word Recall
Students use various strategies to improve their listening skills which are essential for understanding and remembering what was said and to follow directions. These skills are also related to learning new vocabulary, reading and literacy skills.Below is a diagram of various strategies studies may use or learn to use to compensate for weaknesses in listening.
Students often use strategies naturally to help speak fluently, clearly, and in an organized manner. Other students may be taught or cued to use the same strategies, or others that relate to their learning style to help them ability to speak effectively.
