Summer Reading (2013)

One Book, One School

First You Have To Row A Little Boat by Richard Bode

First You Have to Row a Little Boat has been a national bestseller since 1995. Author Richard Bode reflects back on his childhood days and relates the key lessons he learned through a series of sailing metaphors. It is an enjoyable, meaningful and interesting read. Carpe diem!

If you have an understanding of the central metaphor in the book (learning how to sail = learning how to navigate through life and how to adapt to change) and you can provide three examples of how the metaphor works, then you will be in good shape for anything we throw your way in September. Enjoy the summer and enjoy the book!
